While browsing through the National Geographic site, I came across their Best Space Pictures of 2010.
This image was taken in May and it shows an aurora over the southern Indian Ocean.
It was photographed from the International Space Station during a geomagnetic storm.
It is a rare sight as the auroras are usually located over the North and South poles.
That beautiful ghostly vision is something I would like to see in person someday, but until then, I will enjoy the photos from the lucky people who have seen it.
